LHSPLA Coaches,
Congratulations to all of the member schools whose athletes qualified for the LHSPLA State Championship Meet. Everything is falling into place for the meet, which will be held at St. Amant High School on March 2nd and 3rd. Remember that any team members, juniors and below, who did not qualify for the state meet, but meet the LHSPLA eligibility requirements, can lift at the JV State Meet. This meet will be held on February 23rd and 24th at West Monroe High School. Please contact John Talley (St. Amant High School) for more information about the LHSPLA State Meet and Casey Sanders for information about the LHSPLA State JV meet.
Proposals for the 2001 Business meeting are due by February 16th. All proposed amendments or changes to the LHSPLA Constitution, Hall of Fame nominations, and nominees for the two $500 scholarships must be received by the above date. Also, any member school which plans to submit a bid to host one of the 2002 State Meets, must get this information to me or one of the other LHSPLA Executive Committee members. All of these items will be discussed at the LHSPLA business meeting, which will be held on Friday night, March 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at St. Amant High School. All proposals and other pertinent information concerning the LHSPLA Business Meeting and the State Meet will be listed under the State Meet Results link on the LHSPLA web site. Also, results from the North, South, East and West regionals are located under the Invitational Meets link on the web site. Please visit our web site and send your comments and suggestions to me, or any other executive committee members via e-mail. Simply click on one of our names in the Executive Committee section of the web site. Please make sure that you e-mail any proposals by the 16th of February.

Bids for 2002 State Meets
Article XIII, Section 2 of the LHSPLA Constitution provides that beginning with the 2001-02 powerlifting season, sites for the Division I, Division II and the State JV meets will be bid upon by member schools. The 2002 Division I State Meet will be held on the first weekend in March at a Division I school in the North or the West Regions. The 2002 Division II State Meet will be held the weekend before the Division I State meet (last weekend in February) at a Division II school located in the East or West Regions. The 2002 State JV meet will be held during the third weekend in February at a Division I or II school in the South or East Regions. If no member school from the South or East Regions bid for the state JV meet, member schools from the West or the North may submit a bid. Schools planning to bid on these meets need to start getting their bids in order. Dates for the 2002 meets are:
State JV (South or East) – Saturday, February 16th, 2002
State Division II (South or East) – Saturday, February 23rd, 2002
State Division I (North or West) – Saturday, March 2nd, 2002
The 2001 USAPL National Collegiate Meet will be held on March 9th, 10th and 11th, 2001 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Meet Directors are Duane Urbina and Trey Cunningham.
